More than 2,000 homes and businesses in Santee were left without electricity Sunday after a truck ran into a pole, according to sheriff's officials.
The truck hit the pole near Mast Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue shortly before noon, said sheriff's Lt. John Spach.
"It knocked the pole completely off its base," Spach said.
The man driving the truck was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Spach said.
Deputies closed Mast Boulevard in both directions, he said.
An outage map for SDG&E showed two circuits in Santee with unplanned power outages, affecting a total of 2,205 customers. The company estimated that power would be restored by 2:30 p.m.
